Four Generations of Quakers

So on the 350th day of 2019 I get to brag more than I usually do about Alexa Sherr.  That's because on 12/16/19, we found out that Alexa has been admitted to the Penn Nursing Class of 2024!  She has worked so hard for so long and I am so happy for her to have been able to get in to Penn.  And, because she is ED she will be attending in the Fall of 2020.  No more applications, no more wondering.  And, she will follow in the footsteps of Sarah (at the School of Nursing) as well as my sister and I, plus my parents, who, as Sarah and I did, met at Penn, and also my maternal grandfather.  Yes, tonight I am grateful for four generations of Quakers.  FIGHT ON PENN!

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
