We completed the FAFSA

So day #300 of 2019 was a pretty normal Sunday.  Church was amazing, because I LOVE the music of Reformation Sunday.  Then we spent the afternoon and evening watching sports and hanging out and doing homework and being together as a family.  But the most remarkable thing about 10/27/19 was that, as a part of the college application process, I tackled the FAFSA.  Now, working at Penn, I have referenced and heard referenced the FAFSA about a million times.  But now the tables are flipped and _I_ am the one who had to complete it.  I was very nervous, to be honest, and I was putting it off.  But, guess what?  It was not that bad.  And it's done!  WHEW!  So, tonight, I head to bed, ready to face the coming work week, with gratitude for the fact that we completed the FAFSA.  And that's one of the process' hurdles that have been cleared.

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
