My Kids Were in the Band!

The 285th day of 2019 fell in the middle of Penn's Fall Break.  So, since there was a home football game on 10/12/19, the girls and I went to campus to play in the Band to supplement the smaller group.  I cannot remember the last time I wore the Penn Band Sweater in an official capacity and Alexa had one too and Anna her Pep Band shirt.  It was fun to be back at it and I think the girls had fun too.  I am really glad that they agreed to come and even happier that they enjoyed themselves.  So, yes, my gratitude today is that my kids were in the Band!  It's great to see them participating in something that has been such a big part of my life on campus.  Fight On, Pennsylvania!

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
