Health Insurance

On the 302nd day of 2019 I received a text from CVS that a prescription had been filled and was ready for pickup.  And so, on the way home from work on 10/29/19, I stopped there and picked it up.  And, as I got home and looked at the accompanying paperwork, I gasped.  Retail Price: $1,470.99.  Coupon: $75.01.  Amount Due: $24.99.  All because I am lucky enough to work at a job that has a decent prescription plan.  So that is where my gratitude lies tonight.  I am grateful for health insurance.  And, honestly, while I am grateful that I have it and it made my Rx affordable, I also feel guilty because there are SO many people who are not as lucky as I am who cannot get the life sustaining medicine they need without going bankrupt (or not at all).  I really hope that we, as a country, can figure this all out.

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
