Going off the grid

Since it is 9/15/19, the 258th day of 2019 is still in the Summer.  Yes, September is a "Fall Month," but Fall does not start until much later this week.... So it was fitting that we, after Church, took the Youth Group tubing.  And, yes, I went in the tube along with four other adults and eight youth.  And, because there is a danger of everything getting wet (it did!), I left my cellphone in the van.  So, for the first time in forever, I went 5 hours off of the grid!  Longest waking time off the grid in the longest time.  And it was a refreshing afternoon.  I feel ready for the work week ahead!  So I am grateful for getting off the grid and maybe I should do it more often!

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
