Brave Kids

So at 2:55PM on the 270th day of 2019 the parents of Collingswood High School got a text to read our email.  In the email in the afternoon of 9/27/19, there was a letter from the CHS Principal telling us about an incident in the School where a gun was found in a student's backpack after other students reported seeing it to the School Counselors.  There is no question at all where my gratitude lies tonight.  It lies with those students who saw something and said something and with the counselors, teachers, and administration of the school that handled it swiftly and without alarm.  The overall event saddens me and makes me nervous, but at least when something like this happened, the procedures were followed and worked well.  Not sure how long it will take me to get to sleep tonight, but I will not stop thinking about this for a while.

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
