A Walk Around the Lake

The 223rd day of 2019 started pretty innocuously.  It was a great service at church this morning and the weather today was as amazing as it was yesterday.  Reflecting on the weather and Pastor Michael's sermon suggesting we think about one thing we can do to better my life made me decide to do something I had not done in a long time (if ever).  As you have probably seen on my News Feed, on 8/11/19, I walked around the Newton Lake with my wife and my dog.  It was not easy, but it was possible.  And that is due to being lighter and stronger than I was this time last year.  So I am grateful, tonight, for a walk around the lake.  And my hope is for many more walks in the future.  I also hope that we all can look to do things to improve our lives and the world as well.

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
