Those who have given the ultimate sacrifice

I am not going to lie, when we went to the Memorial Day Service, presented by Oaklyn's American Legion Post in front of the Oaklyn Memorial Library, I got very emotional.  And, on the morning of the 146th day of 2019, when they played Taps, I started to tear up and choke up.  During 5/26/19, I truly did think of and say thanks for those who left their country and their families to serve their country and were not able to return.  I am pretty much a pacifist, but that does not mean I do not support and appreciate those who choose to serve to protect the freedoms we are afforded in this country.  That is why, tonight, as I head off to bed having enjoyed my extra long weekend (I was off Friday too!), my gratitude is for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.  And my prayers are for their friends, families, and all that knew and loved them.

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
