All who have mothered me

The 132nd day of 2019 was, as you all know, Mother's Day.  And 5/12/19 was spent at church, at home, at dinner, at a college info session, and then at home again.  And we celebrated with Sarah (the mom in our household) and we called our moms.  And my post this morning honored our moms so I want to express my gratitude, tonight, for all who have mothered me in my life.  This includes, of course, Sarah and my mom and my mom-in law, and my grandmothers.  But it also includes my dad, my Pastors, my work study bosses when I was in College, a girlfriend or two, best friends, and even my kids, at times.  One of the definitions of mother (as a verb) is "to care for, or protect."  And, these days, I think we could all use more mothering.  So, on this Mother's Day, let's honor and acknowledge those who have mothered us and let's pledge to mother others in our daily lives.  We can all use some care and protection.

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
