Easter Brass

You would think the combination of a palindromic day (#111 of 2019) and one of my favorite holidays (Easter) would have made this a close to perfect day.  And the service was wonderful at Church, the meal (cooked by Sarah and Jackie) was wonderful, and the company (family) was amazing as well.  Sadly, I am under the weather (I think it is a double whammy of a head cold, chest cold, and seasonal allergies!)  So I was not able to sing at Church and I had to lie down during most of the service.  But, the most important part of the service was still present.  Easter Brass introduced me to going to church (when I played for Dolly Terry in her Church).  Easter Brass inspired me to take Communion for the first time, in Sarah's home Church.  And Easter Brass, for me, is the culmination of the Lenten Season and something I look forward to all year.  And so I propped myself up, and we played Easter Brass and my soul was filled this morning.  And that is where my gratitude lies tonight.  I am thankful for Easter Brass and that, even though I was under the weather, I was able to join the brass players on 4/21/19 and have my soul filled.  I hope your day filled your soul as well.  HAPPY EASTER!

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
