Small Steps Towards Equality
I woke up early and got my kids to school on the 71st day of 2019. And, arriving at the office early, I skimmed Facebook, of course, before getting to work. And so, my day on 3/12/19 started with an image of a friend (and former colleague) and her wife (another friend and former advisee) celebrating the adoption of their child. It warmed my heart and made me feel, in this time of political tumult, that there is hope for equality in our future. It was a picture filled with joy, hope, and love. So, tonight, my gratitude pours out to the small steps our society is taking towards equality. I believe we have better days in our future and I will continue to lean on my hope and faith.
Tonight's prayer goes towards my friends and their new family. I pray mostly prayers of thanksgiving, but also of joy and strength for their household. And I, once again, thank them for making my morning so happy (and that carried through most of the day!)
Tonight's prayer for people with whom I disagree is for fans of the NY Giants. Yes, the Giants are one of the major rivals of the Eagles and the Eagles-Giants Games are always tough. But, tonight, their star WR was traded and there are many upset fans and I say a prayer of solace for them. Especially the kids of my Giants Fans friends, who are really mad (and not used to the betrayal that sports teams often inflict on their fans (especially in Philly, but I digress)). So, I hope my friends either find solace, or, frankly, forsake their Giants fandom for my Eagles :-)
