Opening Day

I took a day of from work on the 87th day of 2019.  That is because 3/28/19 was Opening Day for the Phillies!  What a great day of baseball, friends, a Phils win, three Phillies Homeruns, a some of the nicest Opening Day weather in recent memory.  I am grateful for Opening Day, a new beginning if you will.  Nobody has any losses (yet) and anything (almost) is possible to conceive for your team and your favorite players.  Here's to a great season!

Today's prayer is a prayer of thanksgiving for the way Bryce Harper has embraced the City of Philadelphia.  So far, everything has gone perfectly, and I know it will not be perfect forever, but a prayer of strength for us all when it's not :-).

And today's prayer for someone with whom I disagree is for the Braves fans from Nashville who travel around the country following their favorite team.  We did not agree on who we wanted to win, but we all enjoyed being in the stadium and baseball!

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
