Irvine Auditorium

The girls did not have school on 2/18/19 so Sarah and I took the day off as well.  And, on Day #49 of 2019, we found ourselves on Penn's campus (even though I was not working).  Why?  We did our official Penn tour with Alexa today.  And it was quite interesting to view the Penn experience as a potential applicant's parent!  But, my gratitude, today, is not for the tour, but it's for where the Info Session took place.  As I sat in the audience, in Irvine Auditorium, I looked up and was amazed by the beauty and grandeur of Irvine.  Now, no, this was not the first time I sat in Irvine.  But sitting in as a parent, it seemed to take on a different aura to me.  The detailed decorations, the amazing Curtis Organ, and the high ceilings made me really appreciate Irvine in a different light today.  And I am grateful for that, and for being able to be on a campus with such beautiful facilities, each day.

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
