My Network

1/9/19 (neat date) and I spent the 9th day of 2019 at work, at rec basketball, and driving to and fro (as we often do on evenings with activities).  But the best part of my day was two conversations with individuals looking to get their careers re-started at Penn.  One was a former colleague from YEARS ago, re-entering the job market after 14-years as a stay at home mom.  The other was a person I met for the very first time, trailing a spouse and looking to re-establish his career in higher education in Philadelphia.  It was a reminder to me about how robust my network (at Penn and beyond) has become and I was happy to try to use my network to assist others.  I am grateful tonight for my network.  For all of the people I have met along way, who have lifted me along with them, who have collaborated with and counselled me, I say THANK YOU!  Here's to building networks and using them to help others!

Being a Father

6/16/2019 is Father's Day.  And I spent the 166th day of 2019 doing things with my family.  Church, clothes shopping (I did need new (and smaller, thank goodness) clothes), naps, Disney Movies on TV, a GREAT dinner (mmmm lasagna by Sarah), and then more catching up on TV with the family.  I am so blessed that, on 4/2/2002, I was made a father.  Being a father has pretty much defined me since that day.  I am so grateful for being a father, as well as being thankful for those who have advised me and taught me and have helped me become a better father.  This, of course, includes my fathers and grandfathers, who have been shining examples to me, but also for all of those other people in my life who have been models and mentors, my mom, other relatives, my wife, friends, etc.  So, to all who have been in my life in regard to my parenting, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!  (and thank you!)

More Numbers

Today, 11/24/19, is Day #328 of 2019.  As with most Sundays, after Church, I counted, with my counter colleagues, the offering that was collected.  So, on day 328, the Loose Offering was $27 and the total cash was $273.  I know it might sound geeky, but this is where my gratitude lies today.  I love that these are more numbers to make me happy.  And I am glad that a simple set of numbers can start my day off in a good manner.
