2019 Brings An Attitude of Gratitude

Here we are at the first day of another year.  Day #1 of 2019.  So, a new year means a new theme for my daily reflection.  I started this in 2013 with a theme of what made me feel lucky in that day.  I needed a daily discipline to make me feel positive about that day.  I was not feeling positive at the end of 2012 and this action has really helped me focus and be attentive to the theme of the year.  And, frankly, it has ensured that something (usually) positive appears on my timeline each and every day.  These days, more than ever, we need more positivity on social media.  The news and the comments online have really caused stress in our society and I even see friends shedding social media accounts because of it.  This makes me sad because the connectedness that social media allows is something I value and depend on.

So far, our themes have been as follows:
2013 - Lucky
2014 - Positive Images
2015 - Connectivity
2016 - Songs of the Day
2017 - Inspirations
2018 - Number of the Day

And now, for 2019, I pledge to have An Attitude of Gratitude and will be posting something I am thankful for each day.  In a way, it is a return to a similar theme of 2013, but with the year we have all experienced in 2018, I think the same need for positivity and gratitude exists.  I hope you all enjoy (and, if you do not, please do not unfriend me, just unfollow me so I do not appear in your Newsfeed) :-)

Today was the last of our relaxing Winter Vacation.  We spent it, as we spend most New Year's Day, watching college football and having the traditional pork (with as much sauerkraut as we can stand) dinner.  Any day that is filled with family, football, food, and fun is a good day in my book!  Today, my gratitude is directed towards my family's traditions that allows for these activities and made this a really wonderful day.

I have been reading my posts from 2013 since I am archiving them in a non-Facebook blog to ensure they are backed up.  2013 was a tumultuous year, filled with ups and downs, and I assume 2019 will be similar in that regard.  My New Year's Wish for all of us (you, me, we) is that our ups are plentiful and our downs are manageable.
